Mission and Vision
Mission Statement: “To worship God, nurture faith in Christ, and bear fruit.”
Vision Statement: “Zion Mennonite Church seeks to empower God’s people to experience and share Christ’s love, healing, and hope by
- providing a place that welcomes all people,
- Increase the number of families in our congregation
- Incorporate Pleasant View residents in worship and church life
- Invite and involve single adults as part of our congregation
- Train ushers and church members to be intentional in welcoming visitors and following up with new regular attendees
- Make physical accommodations in the church to provide better accessibility for various persons
- Incorporate college students in the life of the congregation
- inviting everyone into Spirit-led worship,
- Encourage a variety of worship styles
- Include and develop members’ gifts in music, drama, Scripture reading, sermons, technical support, etc.
- Encourage sharing in corporate worship
- Plan additional worship and praise times during the week, not just on Sunday mornings
- Utilize a variety of speakers in morning worship and resources events
- nurturing passionate spirituality,
- Increase the number of members who participate in enrichment activities and retreats
- Schedule annual spiritual renewal meetings
- Increase biblical literacy
- Develop an awareness of God’s presence and the Holy Spirit’s activity, both in the life of a believer and in the community of faith
- calling individuals to a life of discipleship and servanthood,
- Encourage daily discipleship
- Call individuals to commitment to Christ
- Build a Christian Education focus on personal discipleship themes
- Promote a life of discipleship and servanthood among the youth
- Facilitate mentoring connections between youth and adults in the congregation
- building community through fellowship, prayer, and play,
- Plan fellowship meals and recreational activities
- Maintain an active and vital youth ministry
- Provide opportunity for small group participation
- Encourage people to open their homes to others for fellowship and meals
- offering pastoral care suited to each persons’ needs, and,
- Provide care to people through pastoral visits, small groups, Sunday School shepherds, Care Commission, and Youth ministry
- Develop gifts in spiritual ministry within the congregation
- Maintain ties with those who leave the congregation for career training and service
- encouraging personal involvement in local and global ministry.
- Encourage adult and youth service assignments
- Minister within the local community
- Invite persons who return from missions to share experiences with the congregation
- Encourage Zion Mennonite Women’s Ministries to continue their global ministry
- Develop networks of support for participants in service assignments
